Tonya P, Canadian born singer and songwriter was introduced to the music industry at the tender age of 14. Being the daughter of popular promoter "Clive Kubba Pringle" afforded her many opportunities that many young artists could only dream of having. At the age of 19 she performed on her first major show in Jamaica, as an opening act for the King of Dance Hall, Beenie Man. That night Tonya P not only proved to the people of Jamaica but also to herself that she had a burning passion for Reggae music that could not be denied.
Once back on Canadian soil she continued to seek out local performances while also taking the time to hone her craft and master her writing skills. In 2005 after a brief introduction to a local producer she wrote her first original song titled "With Me" produced by Radford Ettienne (Dr Rad). The song proved to be a hit and was dominating the airwaves. After having such success with the first single the pair continued to work together creating a string of hits that soon made Tonya P one of the most recognized and decorated female reggae artists in Toronto.
In 2007 Tonya P received her first Canadian Reggae Music Award (Top Female New Comer) and after a few more years of hard work and dedication Tonya landed a Juno Nomination (Reggae Recording of The Year) and performed at the JunoFest URBFresh Urban Music Showcase at Toronto's legendary venue, Hard Rock Cafe. Presented by UMAC, The Urban Music Association of Canada, The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and the Juno Award Urban Music Committees.
Tonya's aspirations of becoming a music artist came to life the day she met a fellow Canadian based artist by the name of Shadrock. After hearing her sing at a nightclub, he asked her to sing a collaboration with him for his upcoming album. The song was titled "What's Your Name?". It was the confidence gained from that recording that paved the way for Tonya P to actively pursue her God given.
